We are closed systems i.e. all outside data is ordered and patterned into information by our brains. The data will be processed and small deviations will be filtered out. Dogmatism and fanaticism are the result of the inability to question one's own perception. The way to be open is to show interest. If someone is interested I know easily by the way he/she asks questions. The simplest and most effective way to analyse situations and orient myself is having a basic set of questions ready at the onset of a new venture.
